Behavior
I practice the "Love and Logic" approach to discipline and learning in my classroom. I do not argue with students. I expect a lot out of my kids, and I expect they want the same. I will love your student!
Our classroom and school wide rules are as follows:
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Be Safe
Any inappropriate behaviors are classified into one of the above categories. We make marks on a checklist any time one of these rules is being broken and behavior is interfering with the learning or the rights of any individual. In addition to these marks.

Consequences for marks include:
- 1-2 marks: Warning at teacher discretion
- 3-4 marks: One on one conversation with teacher and/or time out·
- 5 marks: Parent contacted by teacher (either via note home or phone call)
- 6 marks: Detention
- Beyond 6: Consultation with principal
This is for marks received during the course of one day.
Agenda
Each student has been given a planning book to record their assignments and important activities. It would be wonderful if you could encourage the use of the agendas by adding family activities, sports events, church, etc. This is a great organizational tool/skill. PLEASE look at your student’s agenda nightly to see what he/she has due the next day.
Friday Folders
These come home almost every Friday. We rarely miss unless we have had a short week. Graded papers, announcements, book orders, etc, will be included in these folders. Please look through the folders, sign, date, and have your child return the empty folder on the next school day (typically Monday). Feel free to jot notes or comments. I read these every Monday when they are returned. Folders should come back empty!
Homework
I will assign homework for Monday through Thursday only. It will be a review of a skill we have been reviewing in class. It should take no more than 10 minutes. PLEASE let me know if that is not the case! I do not assign homework on weekends or breaks. Students are expected to complete and return their homework.
